Are you a strategic, creative, and tenacious marketing professional ready to make a meaningful difference in your community?

Heart of England Co-operative Society is seeking a Marketing Lead to champion our brand across our food stores, funeral homes, and wider Society initiatives. You’ll lead the delivery of integrated marketing, brand, and PR campaigns that truly reflect our Co-operative values—helping position us as the leading community retailer.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Learning & Development, you’ll:

  • Lead and shape our brand and marketing strategy across all divisions

  • Drive PR and communications strategy, building a calendar of key campaigns and achievements

  • Manage and evaluate in-store and in-home campaigns, seasonal promotions, and event marketing

  • Support cross-promotion of funeral services and food retail

  • Champion key initiatives such as ESG, Diversity & Inclusion, and the ‘Helping Hearts’ programme

  • Develop a customer-first marketing approach to increase engagement, value, and loyalty

  • Collaborate with the Digital Marketing Lead, commercial teams, and corporate partners

  • Manage supplier relationships, marketing budgets, and NPS/CSAT metrics

  • Create compelling briefs and support award submissions and Society events like the AGM

What We’re Looking For

You will be:

  • A passionate and experienced marketer (5+ years), ideally in a retail setting

  • Strategic and analytical, but also highly creative and collaborative

  • A confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills

  • Comfortable leading multiple campaigns across varied business areas

  • Driven to make an impact and passionate about community engagement

You will have:

  • A degree (or equivalent experience) in marketing, digital media, or related discipline

  • A track record of delivering integrated multichannel campaigns

  • Strong organisational and project management skills

  • A natural curiosity and appetite for innovation, learning, and improvement

Why Join Us?

As a co-operative, we do things differently. We’re proud of our heritage, passionate about our values, and committed to making a real difference to our members, customers, and communities. This is more than a marketing role—it’s a chance to help shape a movement.

Ready to Apply?

If you're excited by the challenge and want to be part of a forward-thinking, values-driven organisation, we’d love to hear from you.
