The Heart of England Co-operative Society is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Management Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. About the Role

As a Senior Management Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the month-end close process, enhancing financial reporting, and ensuring robust financial control. You will lead and mentor a management accountant, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture within the finance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a Management Accountant, promoting professional growth.

  • Prepare and present monthly and annual financial reports for management and the board.

  • Conduct detailed financial analysis to inform business decision-making.

  • Enhance the month-end close process and promote continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.

  • Ensure adherence to accounting policies, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.

  • Oversee the external audit process.

  • Support other finance teams to ensure a seamless service to the wider business.

  • Manage risks effectively, propose solutions, and communicate with key stakeholders.

  • Perform ad-hoc financial tasks as required by management.

About You

We are looking for a commercially astute and detail-oriented finance professional who meets the following criteria:

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA or ACA/ACCA) with at least 5 years PQE.

  • Proven track record as a Finance Manager or equivalent in a commercially focused role.

  • Strong experience in delivering management reporting and commercial finance support.

  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and IT literate.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Team player with a collaborative approach.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Retail industry background.

  • Sound knowledge of company taxation.

  • Experience working with large volumes of data.

  • Advanced Excel skills.

  • Experience with accounting software.
